Vaxinano is developing the first vaccine against toxoplasmosis

2017 Sep, MonNews

Founded in July 2016 within the Eurasanté bio-incubator in Lille, Vaxinano is developing the first vaccine against toxoplasmosis. It is based on “nanoparticles composed of cornstarch and lipids that are non-toxic and eliminated by the body within 48 hours,” explains Vincent Lemonnier, president of Vaxinano. He co-founded the startup with Didier Betbeder, a professor at the University of Artois, a researcher at Lille University, and the holder of three patents on these nanoparticles, and Thierry Bardon, a veterinarian by training. “This vaccine is adjuvant-free, administered non-invasively, and, most importantly, does not use live parasites. As a result, it is a solution with no risk of reversion—that is, of triggering the disease.”
